Gwei

A small unit of ether used to measure gas prices (1 gwei = 0.000000001 ETH).

Gwei is a denomination of ether. One gwei is a billionth of an ETH. Because gas fees are tiny fractions of an ETH, quoting them in gwei is more readable.

When people say 'gas is 20 gwei', they mean the price per unit of gas at that moment.
