How we do the math

  Every example shows its inputs: the balance, the APR, the pay schedule, the tax year.

• Hypothetical, always

  Numbers are examples built to teach the method. They are never someone's real paycheck or a testimonial.

• Math you can redo

  We show the formula (goal ÷ paydays left, monthly × 12 ÷ 26) so you can plug in your own numbers.
